Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has declared that National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, will never be allowed to contest another election in Uganda.
In a post on X, Gen Muhoozi referred to Bobi Wine as “Kabobi” and accused him of being a “foreign puppet”, citing his departure from Uganda about 10 days after the 2026 presidential election.
“Kabobi will never be allowed to stand in another election in Uganda again,” Gen Muhoozi wrote.“He proved he is a foreign puppet when he run abroad 10 days after the last elections. We will never let that clown stand for anything in Uganda again. Never!” he added.
The remarks have drawn attention because electoral eligibility is determined through Uganda’s constitutional and electoral framework, meaning Gen Muhoozi’s statement is a political declaration rather than, by itself, a formal legal decision barring Bobi Wine from future elections.

Bobi Wine has contested the presidency twice, in 2021 and 2026, and remains one of Uganda’s most prominent opposition figures. Gen Muhoozi’s latest comments have therefore renewed debate over his future participation in Uganda’s electoral politics.
