A school canteen attendant at Bright Way Secondary School in Kassanda District has been arrested following the death of a Senior Three student who was allegedly struck on the head with a stone during a confrontation.
The suspect, identified as Resty Namutebi, allegedly threw the stone during a disagreement on Monday, October 5, but it reportedly missed the intended target and hit 20-year-old Ronald Ssemiyingo.
Ssemiyingo received first aid at school before being rushed to Red Rose Hospital for further treatment. However, he was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival after sustaining serious head injuries.
Police have arrested Namutebi as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and what led to the fatal confrontation.

The tragedy has left the school community mourning the loss of the young student and raised concerns about handling conflicts peacefully within school environments. May Ronald Ssemiyingo’s soul rest in eternal peace.
