Top officials in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have dismissed allegations attributed to Lieutenant Herbert Matanda Mabonga, describing them as fabricated and accusing him of desertion.
Colonel Chris Magezi, the acting director of defence public information, said the army had rejected the claims targeting the military, Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Magezi described the allegations as a mixture of forgeries, manipulated images and fabricated information, although the claims have not been independently verified.The army official also referred to Lt Mabonga as a deserter, signalling the military’s firm rejection of his allegations.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that security operatives are searching for Mabonga with plans to arrest him. However, the reported deployment and circumstances surrounding the alleged manhunt have not been independently confirmed.
