Uganda has dropped the requirement for travellers entering the country to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate, according to the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC).
The clarification was issued in a letter dated August 27, 2026, after the Uganda Tourism Board sought guidance on whether the certificate was still mandatory.DCIC confirmed that travellers arriving through Uganda’s official points of entry no longer need to present proof of yellow fever vaccination.
The requirement has also been removed from Uganda’s e-visa portal and immigration website.The change is expected to make entry into Uganda easier for international visitors, particularly tourists who previously had to carry the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, commonly known as the yellow card

Immigration Uganda also confirmed the development on X after a traveller sought clarification, responding, “Yes it is,” in reference to the removal of the requirement.However, travellers should note that yellow fever vaccination requirements may still apply when travelling to other countries, depending on their country of origin or transit history.
