Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Chairman’s Office head David Kabanda has called on President Yoweri Museveni to remove Kahinda Otafiire from government, warning that failure to act could force PLU to reconsider its cooperation with the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Kabanda, who is also Kasambya County MP, said he would ask PLU Chairman Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to reconsider the alliance if what he described as corrupt individuals continued serving in government.
“If the President does not get rid of these corrupt people like Otafiire from our coalition government, we shall be forced to ask our Chairman to reconsider this coalition with NRM and start our own family,” Kabanda said.
He said his remarks were made in the context of the Tuko Pamoja cooperation between PLU and NRM ahead of the 2026 general elections, under which PLU supporters were encouraged to support NRM candidates.
