The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Lino Angunzu, has cleared Rose Tusiime of any involvement in the murder of veteran Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu, saying she has no case to answer.
Angunzu said Tusiime, who was with Matovu shortly before his death, will instead be a key prosecution witness in the murder case against Vincent Arnold Nsamba, alias Sitenda. The DPP explained that Tusiime was wrongly perceived as a suspect after she appeared in the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court alongside Nsamba on September 28.
He said her appearance resulted from an error by police officers escorting Nsamba.Matovu, 77, was fatally attacked on September 24 in Kibuli Market Zone B, shortly after leaving Tusiime’s residence.
Prosecutors allege that Nsamba confronted the pair and punched Matovu below the chin, causing him to fall. He was rushed to Kibuli Hospital but was pronounced dead.
