The Uganda Youth Umbrella has endorsed retired Gen. Salim Saleh to contest for President of Uganda for the 2031–2036 term, describing him as an experienced leader capable of guiding the country into the future.The endorsement was announced during the launch of the organisation, which said it would mobilise young Ugandans behind Saleh’s vision beyond 2026.
The group cited Saleh’s contribution to Uganda’s liberation struggle, his role in economic empowerment programmes and his involvement in youth development. It particularly pointed to Operation Wealth Creation and other initiatives aimed at promoting agriculture, agribusiness, innovation and small-scale manufacturing.
The Uganda Youth Umbrella said Saleh’s long experience in Uganda’s political and economic affairs could help bridge generational and regional differences while promoting national unity.
The organisation called on farmers, boda boda riders, students, entrepreneurs and other youth groups to join its nationwide mobilisation campaign under the slogan, “Building Uganda’s Future, For the People, For the Nation.
