Pastor Robert Kayanja has launched a fresh attack on businessman and social commentator Frank Gashumba, accusing him of repeatedly attacking prominent Ugandan leaders and religious institutions.
Speaking during a Wednesday night service at Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga, Kampala, Kayanja accused Gashumba of insulting the Katikkiro of Buganda, President Yoweri Museveni and members of the Catholic Church.“This man, Frank Gashumba, attacks everything.
He attacked the Katikkiro of Buganda and he abused and insulted him. Before that he was abusing the president and we couldn’t say anything,” Kayanja said.He further accused Gashumba of making false statements about him and warned that he would no longer remain silent over the commentator’s remarks. “He has attacked the Catholics.
He has lied about me… he attacks and abuses everyone. Enough is enough,” the pastor declared. The disagreement between the two men follows Gashumba’s challenge to pastors who claim to perform miraculous healing.
He initially offered Shs200 million before raising the proposed reward to Shs500 million for any preacher who could demonstrate healing by treating a seriously ill patient at a hospital.Gashumba maintains that his challenge targets religious leaders he accuses of exploiting vulnerable believers through false miracle claims
. He has repeatedly insisted that he believes in God and Jesus Christ, arguing that his criticism is directed at what he describes as fake pastors, prophets and apostles.
Kayanja, however, has defended the miracles associated with his ministry, insisting that they come from God. He believes Gashumba’s criticism has moved beyond questioning religious practices and crossed into disrespect for Christianity and sacred beliefs.
The public dispute has sparked debate about miracle claims, religious accountability and the conduct of influential public figures. Kayanja’s latest remarks signal that the confrontation remains unresolved as both men maintain their positions.
