Police have reportedly arrested seven people as investigations continue into the death of Moses, a chef who worked at Pastor Samuel Kakande’s church in Kubiri, near Mulago in Kampala. The arrests come as detectives examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Moses died on October 1, 2026, and was buried in Mayuge District on October 4. However, questions surrounding his death remained unanswered, prompting his relatives to seek police intervention to establish what had happened.
On October 5, the deceased’s brother reportedly returned to Kampala and asked police to investigate the circumstances under which Moses died. Following the request, a General Inquiry File was opened at Wandegeya Police Station.

Investigators have since recorded statements from Moses’ relatives, church members and employees of Rhino Funeral Services. Police are reportedly gathering information from different people who may help explain the events leading to the chef’s death.
CCTV footage from the church was retrieved and reviewed by information and communications technology experts. Scene of Crime Officers also examined the relevant area as detectives worked to collect evidence that could help establish what happened.
Preliminary findings reportedly suggest that Moses may have slipped and fallen into a lift shaft while the lift was moving upwards. Sources further claim that the lift subsequently returned and struck his head, although the precise circumstances remain subject to investigation.
The incident has also raised questions about how Moses was handled after the accident, with reports indicating that his body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary without a corresponding police case being registered at the time. Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding this reported delay.
Police have reportedly declined to publicly disclose the identities of the seven arrested individuals as questioning continues. The investigation remains ongoing, and the arrests do not establish guilt. Authorities are expected to rely on witness statements, CCTV footage and forensic evidence to determine what happened to Moses.
