Three people have been killed and two others injured in a serious road accident at Kyampisi along the Kayunga-Jinja Road in Kayunga District on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred at around 9:40am and involved a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado VX, registration number UAX 957N, a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UGH 833R, and three pedestrians.
According to Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto, the Land Cruiser was travelling from Kayunga towards Jinja when its driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle after speeding.

Police said the vehicle crossed to the right side of the road and knocked three pedestrians, killing two of them instantly. As the driver attempted to regain control, the Land Cruiser collided head-on with a motorcycle travelling from Jinja towards Kayunga.
The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries, while one of the pedestrians who survived the initial impact was rushed to Kayunga Hospital. She later died while receiving treatment, bringing the death toll to three.
The deceased were identified as Sekito Mike, 27, Nanfuka Eris, 65, and Mutesi Lilian, 23, all residents of Kyampisi in Kayunga District. An unidentified adult male was also injured in the crash and is receiving medical treatment.
Police said the Land Cruiser was towed to Kayunga Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles as investigations into the cause of the accident continue. The crash comes less than two weeks after another fatal accident at Seeta Nyize in Kangulumira Town Council, Kayunga District, on September 26, which left at least two people dead and nine others injured.
Butoto urged motorists to avoid speeding, obey traffic signs and exercise caution, particularly in areas with heavy pedestrian and motorcycle traffic. She also called on passengers to speak up when drivers engage in dangerous speeding or reckless driving, warning that remaining silent could put their lives at risk.
