Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has called on Ugandans to work together towards building a greater Uganda, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility in the country’s development.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Muhoozi wrote, “Ask not what your country can do for you but what we together can do for the greatness of Uganda.”His message calls on citizens to consider their individual contributions to national development rather than focusing only on what they expect from their country.
The statement echoes the famous words of former United States President John F. Kennedy, who urged Americans to ask what they could do for their country. Muhoozi adapted the message to focus on unity and the shared responsibility of building Uganda.
In another post, the Chief of Defence Forces shared a biblical passage describing the struggle between Jacob and a mysterious man who wrestled with him until daybreak.According to the passage in Genesis 32:24–26, the man touched Jacob’s hip socket, leaving it out of joint, and later asked him to let go because the day had broken.

However, Jacob refused to release the man without receiving a blessing, declaring, “I will not let you go until you bless me.”The biblical account is often associated with persistence, determination and the pursuit of a blessing despite hardship.
Muhoozi shared the passage without an accompanying explanation of its connection to his earlier message about Uganda. His two posts bring together themes of national responsibility, perseverance and the pursuit of a better future. While one calls for Ugandans to work together for their country’s greatness, the other highlights Jacob’s determination to receive a blessing after a difficult struggle.
