Police have arrested a private security guard identified as Vincent Nsamba in connection with the death of Afrigo Band founder Moses Matovu.Nsamba, an employee of security firm SG, was reportedly arrested in Nansana hours after Matovu died on September 24, 2026.
Matovu, 77, was rushed to Kibuli Hospital after a confrontation in the area but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.An eyewitness told NTV that Matovu had been escorting a woman, identified as Rose Tumusiime, to her rented home when he was confronted by a man believed to be her boyfriend.
The confrontation allegedly turned physical, with the man reportedly punching Matovu, causing him to fall and sustain serious injuries.Police have not yet confirmed the full circumstances surrounding the death, while Tumusiime remains in custody as detectives continue questioning witnesses and gathering evidence.Matovu founded Afrigo Band in 1975 and remained one of Uganda’s most prominent live-band musicians for decades.0773997444
