Edward Rukidi Nyaboongo I is set to undergo a traditional midnight ritual as part of the process leading to his official installation as the new Omukama of Tooro.
According to Omusuuga Charles Kamurasi Akiiki, the King will leave Rwegoma Palace at midnight and walk on foot to Karuziika Palace, where an important stage of the enthronement ceremony will take place.
Kamurasi said the King will face a person at the entrance who will attempt to stop him from entering the palace. The encounter is a traditional part of the process.
He explained that Edward will then hand over his powers and authority as required by the ritual, marking another important step in his journey to formally assume the throne.
Edward was selected by the Babiito clan and later endorsed by the Rukurato, the Supreme Council of Tooro Kingdom.
His coronation is scheduled for September 29, 2026, at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal City, as Tooro prepares for the historic transition.077399444
