Naggalama Police Division has arrested 25-year-old Onyango Henry, a resident of Magonga Village, Kiwafu Parish, Kimenyedde Sub-county, Mukono District, in connection with the death of 90-year-old Negesa Christine, also from Magonga Village.
The incident occurred on September 20, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., when Onyango was reportedly seen leaving the victim’s home. Relatives who arrived shortly afterward discovered Negesa Christine with severe head injuries, prompting immediate police intervention.
Authorities responded swiftly, taking witness statements and conducting a thorough investigation. Onyango was brought back to the scene for a reconstruction, during which police recovered the suspected murder weapon, a panga, and a shoe believed to belong to the suspect. Onyango later led police to a well where he reportedly washed the weapon, which may provide further forensic evidence.
Negesa Christine’s body was taken to Kayunga Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death and assist in the ongoing investigation. Police are also investigating the motive and whether the suspect acted alone.
The community has expressed shock and grief over the incident. Residents described Negesa Christine as a respected elder whose death has deeply affected the village.
“Investigations are ongoing, and we are following all leads to uncover the motive and identify anyone else involved,” said SSP P Onyango, spokesperson for Naggalama Police, on September 22, 2025. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued.
