St. Mary’s College Mayenze, one of Uganda’s top secondary schools, has launched a half-bursary program to support talented students who face financial challenges. The initiative aims to ensure that no bright learner misses out on quality education due to lack of funds.
Under this scheme, students with excellent academic results or outstanding sports performance can receive a 50% reduction in tuition. Eligible students must have scored a Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) aggregate between 4 and 14.
The school also encourages early fee payments by offering a 2% discount to families who pay within the first two weeks of term. This helps parents manage costs while supporting the school’s operations.
Practical learning will be a major focus in 2026.
Students will take part in field trips for geography and visits to Parliament for History and Political Education classes. These experiences are designed to deepen understanding of national governance and civic responsibilities.
St. Mary’s College Mayenze rewards academic excellence. Students who achieve seven or more distinctions receive UGX 50,000 or partial fee exemptions, motivating learners to aim high. The school also provides compassionate support for students who lose a parent, reducing fees by 50% for the loss of a father and 25% for the loss of a mother.
Spiritual growth and moral development are central to the school’s vision. Daily prayers, Scripture Union activities, and Mass help shape disciplined, ethical, and faith-filled students.
Nutrition and welfare are equally prioritized. All students enjoy balanced meals, while boarders receive special weekly meals. Combined with strong academic and practical learning programs, the school ensures students are well-prepared, confident, and ready for the future.
