Former Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has strongly pushed back against Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, declaring that he will not be intimidated by threats of arrest following his criticism of the detention of former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
The outspoken politician condemned Lukwago’s arrest and the circulation of images allegedly showing him blindfolded in detention, arguing that public officials must be held accountable regardless of their position or authority.
Responding to warnings from Muhoozi, Ssemujju said no leader is above the realities of life and death, stressing that political power is temporary. Drawing from past experiences, he recalled confronting powerful military figures before and surviving despite public fears of retaliation.
Ssemujju maintained that only God has ultimate authority over life and death and urged Ugandans not to live in fear of powerful individuals. He insisted that citizens have a right to question leaders and demand accountability, adding that public office should never be used to silence critics.
His remarks have further intensified the political debate surrounding Lukwago’s arrest and the growing tensions between opposition figures and the country’s security establishment.
