Fans of RnB music are set for an unforgettable experience as American singer Joe Thomas prepares to perform in Uganda for the third time on November 30. Known for his smooth vocals and timeless hits, Joe is currently on an African tour that has already taken him to several countries on the continent.
Joe first performed in Uganda in 2007, quickly winning the hearts of local audiences with his soulful sound. He returned in 2014 as part of the Jazz & Soul Safari, delivering another memorable performance. More than a decade later, his upcoming show is eagerly anticipated by fans across the country.
Event organisers are promising a night to remember. Keith Ashaba, director of Malembe Lifestyle, described the concert, titled ‘A Night with Joe Thomas,’ as an intimate celebration of the singer’s music, designed to create lasting memories for attendees.
“This show is more than just a performance; it’s about reconnecting with a familiar voice that has been part of so many people’s lives,” Ashaba said. He emphasized that the event will offer fans a close and personal encounter with the artist.
Preparations for the day include an earlier event called Music and Friends, a relaxed outdoor gathering starting at 1 pm. The pre-show activities aim to engage attendees and set the tone for the evening’s main performance.
Annette Nakiyaga, head of marketing and corporate communications at I&M Bank, one of the show’s partners, highlighted the significance of hosting an international music icon. She noted that Joe Thomas’ music appeals to multiple generations, making his visit a unique cultural experience for Ugandan audiences.
Nakiyaga added that I&M Bank’s involvement goes beyond sponsorship; it is an opportunity to connect with clients through a shared love of music and entertainment, creating memorable moments beyond regular banking services.
Fans attending the show can expect an evening filled with Joe Thomas’ greatest hits, as well as his signature smooth RnB sound that has earned him international acclaim. Organisers have promised a production that complements the intimacy of his performance.
The upcoming event marks a milestone for Uganda’s live music scene, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a destination for international artists seeking to engage with enthusiastic audiences.
