Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), has said social commentator Frank Gashumba will apologise to Christians following his controversial remarks about pastors and claims of performing miracles.
In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, Muhoozi said the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), a political pressure group he leads, has no problem with pastors in Uganda.
“Frank Gashumba will apologize to Christians in the country. PLU has no problem with pastors in Uganda,” Muhoozi wrote.
The statement comes amid a public dispute between Gashumba and some religious leaders over claims of miraculous healing and the conduct of certain pastors.

Gashumba questioned the healing claims made by some pastors and challenged them to demonstrate their alleged powers, offering money to any pastor who could meet his conditions.
His remarks sparked mixed reactions, with some people supporting his call for accountability among religious leaders, while others felt his comments could offend Christians and undermine their faith.
Muhoozi’s intervention appears aimed at clarifying PLU’s position and making it clear that the organisation has no dispute with Uganda’s pastors.
However, his post did not indicate when Gashumba is expected to apologise or whether the social commentator has agreed to do so.
The controversy continues to fuel public debate about religious accountability, miracle claims and the need to respect people’s faith while questioning the conduct of religious leaders.
