Uganda’s legal fraternity is mourning the death of prominent lawyer D.S Mubiru-Kalenge, a founding partner of Kalenge Bwanika Kisubi & Co Advocates, who died at Nakasero Hospital.
The law firm announced his death in a statement, describing it as a devastating loss to the firm and everyone who knew him.Mubiru-Kalenge’s death has attracted tributes from members of the legal fraternity, who have praised his contribution to the legal profession and the mentorship he provided to others.
Emmanuel Othini paid tribute to the deceased, referring to him as “Senior Kakenga” and describing him as someone who nurtured many people both near and far.
Lawyer Isaac N. Mpanga described Mubiru-Kalenge as a courtroom legend, highlighting his contribution to modern commercial law. He specifically cited the landmark AK Detergents v dfcu and others case, saying the late lawyer had left important legal precedents for future generations.
