Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has described himself as “ruthless” on security matters but insisted that he respects the law and due process.
In a post on X, Gen Muhoozi said security agencies should not punish suspects outside the established legal system.“I am ruthless but I follow the law,” he stated, adding, “I don’t hang outlaws on the closest tree we find.”
Gen Muhoozi stressed that every Ugandan accused of an offence deserves an opportunity to face the courts and have their case determined through the judicial process.
“Every Ugandan is entitled to his day in court,” he said.His remarks highlight his position that being tough on crime and security threats does not mean abandoning the law or denying suspects their right to due process.
