Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has reportedly lost her Police Presidential Guard (PPG) security detail amid a growing disagreement with officials and supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) over the 2031 presidential succession debate.
The reported withdrawal comes after Namyalo mobilised youths who endorsed President Yoweri Museveni for another term in 2031, at a time when PLU supporters are increasingly backing Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to succeed his father.
The development follows public warnings from PLU officials over Namyalo’s mobilisation activities. David Kabanda, an official in the Office of the PLU Chairman, publicly told her to “stop it”, while PLU General Secretary Twalla Fadil has also reportedly warned her.Namyalo heads the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), a mobilisation structure associated with Museveni and the National Resistance Movement.
Her continued mobilisation for Museveni has become increasingly notable as PLU leaders step up activities linked to Muhoozi’s reported 2031 ambitions. However, there was no official confirmation from the government or police by September 29, 2026, that Namyalo had lost her guards.
It also remains unclear whether any change in her security arrangements is directly linked to the political disagreement or resulted from a routine administrative decision. The reported security change adds another twist to the growing differences between groups mobilising around Museveni’s possible continuation in office and those supporting Muhoozi’s political future. For now, the circumstances surrounding Namyalo’s reported loss of the presidential guard detail remain unconfirmed.
