A truck driver has died and two other people have been injured in a road accident involving a Sino truck and a Mitsubishi Fuso on the Kampala–Gulu Highway in Luwero District.
The fatal crash occurred at around 11:50 a.m. in Nkondo Village, Nnyimbwa Sub-county, approximately 40 kilometres into Luwero District. The accident involved two heavy vehicles travelling in opposite directions along the busy highway.
According to Savannah Region Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima, preliminary investigations indicate that the Sino truck was travelling from Gulu towards Kampala when it reportedly suffered a tyre failure.
Police investigations suggest that four tyres on the truck had burst, leaving the driver struggling to control the vehicle as it continued along the highway.

The driver, identified as Ssegujja, subsequently lost control and collided with an oncoming Mitsubishi Fuso. The impact forced the Fuso off the road, sending it into a nearby maize garden.
The Mitsubishi Fuso overturned in the garden following the collision, leaving two people injured. The injured victims were yet to be fully identified in the initial police report, and further details about their condition had not been provided.
Sadly, the Sino truck driver died in the accident. Police have launched investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash, including the reported tyre failure that preceded the collision.
The incident adds to concerns about road safety along the Kampala–Gulu Highway, a major route connecting Kampala to northern Uganda. Investigations remain ongoing as authorities seek to establish what led to the fatal crash that left one person dead and two others injured.
