Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced plans to hold a rally in Gulu as he steps up his political activities following his declaration of presidential ambitions.
“I will hold a rally in Gulu soon. If the North has forgotten ‘Ladit’, I will remind them,” Muhoozi said.
The remarks have sparked debate about his strategy to strengthen his political presence in Northern Uganda, a region with significant historical and political importance.
“Ladit,” a Luo term associated with a respected elder or leader, has previously been used by Muhoozi’s supporters when referring to him.
His planned Gulu rally is expected to provide an opportunity to engage directly with residents and present his political message.

The announcement comes amid growing political activity ahead of Uganda’s next general elections, with Muhoozi’s presidential ambitions attracting both support and criticism.
While his supporters see his military and government experience as an advantage, critics continue to question his entry into politics while serving as CDF.
For now, attention is on when the Gulu rally will take place and whether Muhoozi’s “Ladit” message will resonate with voters in Northern Uganda.
