A Ugandan man working as a taxi driver in Abu Dhabi has died after reportedly taking his own life following claims that he received distressing information from Uganda involving his wife and a close friend.
The deceased, identified as Mbabazi Joseph, had spent more than five years in the United Arab Emirates, where he worked hard to support his family and build a better future.
Friends described Joseph as a hardworking and dedicated person who endured the challenges of living abroad while providing for his loved ones back home.
According to reports, Joseph allegedly received information that his wife had become involved in a relationship with a close friend he trusted. The friend was reportedly someone Joseph had relied on to help deliver items to his wife while he was away in Abu Dhabi.
Reports indicate that after returning to Uganda and getting in contact with Joseph’s wife, the friend allegedly became closer to her, leading to a relationship that reportedly left Joseph devastated after he learned about it.
People close to him said he struggled emotionally after feeling betrayed by two people he trusted, especially while being far away from home.
His death has left relatives, friends and members of the Ugandan community in Abu Dhabi mourning a man they described as hardworking and committed to his family.
The incident has renewed discussions about the emotional struggles faced by migrant workers who spend years away from their families, including loneliness, pressure and relationship challenges.
Community members have urged people facing difficult situations to seek support from trusted friends, relatives or professional counsellors instead of making decisions during moments of emotional distress.
Joseph’s death remains a painful reminder of the challenges faced by families separated by distance. Friends and relatives continue to mourn his loss as arrangements following his death continue.
May his soul rest in peace.
