Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has launched another verbal attack on opposition figures Erias Lukwago and Dr Kizza Besigye, questioning their whereabouts amid ongoing legal battles.“Where is Erias Lukwago? Where is Kizza Besigye? We are going to teach the fools another lesson,” Muhoozi stated.
The Chief of Defence Forces and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) chairman made the remarks as Besigye continues to face treason-related charges, while Lukwago, who has been part of Besigye’s legal defence team, faces a charge of misprision of treason.Lukwago has denied the allegations, maintaining that individuals mentioned in the case were his clients.
The cases have attracted widespread political attention, with opposition supporters raising concerns about political freedoms and the treatment of government critics, while authorities maintain that the matters are being handled through the courts.Muhoozi’s latest comments have further intensified the political debate, particularly over his continued public criticism of opposition figures while serving as Uganda’s top military commander.The legal battles involving Besigye and Lukwago remain ongoing.
