Maria Namuyomba, daughter of renowned Ugandan musician Moses Matovu, has opened up about the pain of losing her father before he could witness one of her biggest life achievements.Namuyomba revealed that her greatest wish was for her father to be alive when she finally graduated as a doctor, but he passed away while she was still in her fourth year of medical school.
“My biggest wish was for my dad to see me become a doctor. Unfortunately, he has passed away while I am in my fourth year at university,” she said.She said the loss has been difficult to accept, especially knowing that the man who supported her education and dreams will not be present on the day she completes her studies.
Namuyomba also shared her regret over missing the opportunity to be with her father during his final moments, saying she wished she could have done something to save him.“I wish I had been there to save him,” she said.She described Matovu as a caring father whose encouragement and support helped shape her journey, adding that she will always cherish the role he played in her life.Despite the heartbreak, Namuyomba said she remains determined to continue with her medical studies and achieve the dream she once hoped to celebrate with her father.She added that her father’s memory will continue to inspire her as she works towards becoming a doctor and honouring the legacy he left behind.
