Singer and producer Daddy Andre has claimed a key role in the rapid rise of Elijah Kitaka, one of Uganda’s fastest-rising music stars. Over the past two years, Kitaka has released a string of hit songs, a success Andre attributes partly to his guidance and production expertise.
In a recent interview, Andre revealed that before their collaboration, Kitaka’s music lacked focus. By introducing new sounds and experimenting with different genres, Andre helped Kitaka develop a unique musical identity. “The twist I gave Elijah Kitaka is taking him places. Everyone is now enjoying his music — he gained momentum. That’s how good I am with production. I gave him a new musical direction,” he explained.
Andre stressed that a producer’s work goes beyond beats and lyrics. A great producer, he said, must understand how to connect genres with audiences to create lasting impact — a strategy he believes has been crucial to Kitaka’s recent success.
He also praised Jeff Kiwa, describing him as Uganda’s best executive producer. “He’s the best at what he does. Jeff Kiwa has consistently delivered over the years because he truly lives and breathes music — he’s a real fan,” Andre noted.
Andre’s remarks underscore the often-overlooked influence of producers in shaping emerging artists’ careers, showing how guidance behind the scenes can transform raw talent into chart-topping success.
