Ugandan MP and musician Geoffrey Lutaaya has come under scrutiny after a viral video showed a 17-year-old girl, Nambatya, claiming he neglected her. The teenager alleged he failed to support her education and maintain communication, sparking heated debates online.
Lutaaya denied the claims, providing evidence that he had paid full tuition for Nambatya at Stella Maris Nsuube boarding school. He explained that her mother later transferred her to another school, limiting his involvement. Lutaaya also said he settled a private financial dispute with the mother during the COVID-19 lockdown to ensure his daughter’s welfare.
The MP emphasized that he has long-term plans for Nambatya, including sponsoring her studies abroad, but urged her mother to cooperate so he can actively participate in her life. Public opinion remains divided, with some supporting the teenager and others defending Lutaaya.
The controversy continues, highlighting ongoing discussions about parental responsibility, accountability, and the private lives of public leaders in Uganda.
