A public clash has erupted between Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba and NTV Uganda after he demanded Shs10 billion over a report linking him to a lawsuit involving opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye. The controversy began on social media platform X, where discussions emerged claiming that Besigye had filed a human rights enforcement case naming the General among the respondents.
Gen Muhoozi reacted to the claims online, questioning the accuracy of the reports and challenging the narrative being circulated about his involvement in the case. The situation escalated after an NTV Uganda report suggested he had been mentioned in court proceedings and was required to respond within a set timeframe.
Angered by the publication, the CDF responded that NTV Uganda had one week to pay him Shs10 billion, a statement that quickly went viral across social media platforms.NTV Uganda has not yet issued a formal response regarding the demand, while public debate continues over whether the remark was a legal threat or political commentary.
The development comes amid ongoing legal efforts by Besigye’s legal team, led by lawyer Erias Lukwago, who say they are still attempting to serve court documents to several respondents, including senior state officials named in the petition.
