Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has moved to cool tensions with businessman Odrek Rwabwogo, saying he will withdraw his controversial social media post at the request of his brother-in-law, Edwin.
“My ONLY brother-in-law, Edwin, has demanded I withdraw my last tweet about Odrek. I will do it out of my love for Edwin,” Gen Muhoozi said.
The decision follows days of heated public exchanges between Muhoozi and Rwabwogo, who is married to President Yoweri Museveni’s daughter, Patience Museveni Rwabwogo.

The dispute centred largely on the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), with Muhoozi questioning aspects of its operations while Rwabwogo defended the institution and its establishment.
Tensions intensified following the detention of Matthew Bagonza, a PACEID official and aide to Rwabwogo, which further drew public attention to the disagreement.
Muhoozi’s latest message appears to signal a temporary de-escalation, with the army chief putting family ties ahead of continuing the public confrontation.
The move has already triggered reactions online, with some Ugandans welcoming what they see as an attempt to restore family unity, while others continue to debate the unresolved issues surrounding PACEID.
