Local Government Minister Hon. Balaam Barugahara has defended his simple dressing style, saying he prefers practicality and discipline over spending money on appearances.
Balaam explained why he is often seen wearing the same shirt, saying it is easier to wash and dry quickly.
“Many of you kept asking why I wear one shirt? Because the process of drying it becomes easier. You wash it in the evening, by morning it is ready,” he said.
The minister added that a person’s ideas and abilities should not be judged by their clothes.
“What we speak does not come from the ties, but I respect the protocols of the August House,” he said.
Balaam also reflected on his difficult journey, revealing that his education took longer than expected because he was simultaneously running businesses.
“I did a course of four years. It took me seven years to finish because I was running a canteen, running a business, running everything,” he said.
He said those experiences taught him discipline, hard work and responsible money management.
Balaam urged young people not to be discouraged by difficult beginnings, saying success is built through patience, determination and perseverance rather than outward appearance.
