Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced a special birthday run as he prepares to celebrate his 52nd birthday next week. The announcement has already generated excitement among supporters and the general public.
The run is scheduled to take place on April 26 at the iconic Kololo Independence Grounds, one of Uganda’s most popular venues for national events and public gatherings.
According to organizers, the event will not only mark a personal milestone for Gen Muhoozi but will also serve a greater purpose by supporting vulnerable members of society.
The initiative is being organized as a charity drive, with proceeds expected to go towards helping orphans across the country. This has added a humanitarian touch to what would otherwise be a birthday celebration.
The announcement was officially made during a press briefing held at the Uganda Media Centre, where key details about the event were shared with the public.
Government spokesperson Allan Kasujja revealed that Gen Muhoozi himself will actively participate in the run as the “chief runner.”
Kasujja emphasized that the event is meant to bring people together under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for All,” encouraging inclusivity and collective support for a good cause.

He further noted that the run is open to Ugandans from all walks of life, making it an opportunity for citizens to engage in both fitness and charity.
Security for the event has also been a key focus, with authorities assuring the public of their preparedness to handle large crowds.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that security agencies will be fully deployed to manage both access and movement during the event.
Rusoke explained that traffic control measures will be put in place along all routes leading to Kololo to ensure smooth movement and safety for participants.
He added that detailed information regarding the routes for the run will be communicated to the public in due course.
The police also assured participants that there will be strong security presence at the venue and along the running routes to guarantee safety.
This announcement comes just days after the successful Kabaka Birthday Run 2026, which attracted thousands of participants in Kampala.

The Kabaka Birthday Run, held at Lubiri on April 12, continues to grow as one of Uganda’s biggest public health campaigns.
Organizers of that event projected over 130,000 participants, highlighting the increasing popularity of such runs in promoting health and social causes.
The event featured multiple race categories, including 5km, 10km, and 21km, allowing people of different fitness levels to take part.
Since its launch in 2014, the Kabaka Birthday Run has become a powerful platform for raising awareness on key issues such as HIV/AIDS and public health.
Gen Muhoozi’s upcoming birthday run is expected to build on this momentum, further promoting fitness and community involvement.
Many observers believe the event will attract a large turnout, given the growing culture of marathon participation in Uganda.
As April 26 approaches, anticipation continues to build, with many Ugandans looking forward to combining celebration, fitness, and charity in one major event.
