Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned his brother-in-law, businessman Odrek Rwabwogo, saying family ties will not shield him from criticism or accountability. In a statement shared publicly, Muhoozi said Rwabwogo would be mistaken to believe that his marriage to Muhoozi’s sister, Patricia Karugire, could protect him from the consequences of his actions.
“If Odrek Rwabwogo thinks hiding behind my sister will save him, he is joking,” Muhoozi said. The remarks have sparked fresh public interest because of the close family connection between the two prominent figures.Rwabwogo, who is also a presidential adviser, has not yet publicly responded to the warning.
Muhoozi’s statement comes amid wider political discussions involving influential Ugandans and differing views on the country’s leadership and future. His outspoken social media posts have regularly attracted both support and criticism, with many now watching closely to see whether Rwabwogo will respond. The latest exchange has also renewed debate about how family relationships can become complicated when personal disagreements intersect with public and political matters.
