Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has directed all government ministries, departments, agencies and local governments to suspend dealings with PACEID, describing the organisation as “criminal” and unfit for government engagement.
In a statement, Gen Muhoozi ordered government institutions to immediately stop working with PACEID until further guidance, warning that those who defy the directive would be “handled accordingly.”The CDF did not give detailed reasons for the directive but raised concerns about the organisation’s activities and operations.
The order has attracted public attention given PACEID’s previous engagements with government institutions and its reported links to members of the First Family.Gen Muhoozi’s directive means government entities will have to review and suspend any existing partnerships or programmes involving PACEID.The development is expected to fuel debate over government oversight of civil society organisations and the authority of public officials to regulate their engagement with state institutions.
