Opposition leader Bobi Wine has announced that he will spend the next few weeks engaging with international partners before returning to Uganda to continue his political activities.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) president made the statement while addressing supporters about his plans following the recent political developments in the country.
Bobi Wine explained that his engagements abroad are aimed at raising awareness about the political situation in Uganda.
According to him, the meetings will involve discussions with global allies, partners, and supporters who have shown interest in Uganda’s democratic process.
“Over the next few weeks, I will engage with our friends and allies all over the world before returning to Uganda to continue the push for freedom and democracy,” he said.
The opposition leader emphasized that his departure from the country is temporary. He reassured his supporters that he remains fully committed to his political mission and intends to return to Uganda after completing the planned engagements.
Bobi Wine said the purpose of the international engagements is to highlight what he described as the challenges facing democracy and political freedoms in Uganda.

He noted that building strong international partnerships can help amplify the voices of Ugandans seeking political change.
He added that the discussions with international partners will focus on democratic governance, human rights, and the role of citizens in shaping the future of their country. According to him, these conversations are important for strengthening global support for democratic values.
The NUP leader has been a vocal advocate for political reforms and accountability in Uganda. Over the years, he has built connections with various international organizations and political actors who follow developments in the country.
During his address, Bobi Wine said the struggle for democracy requires both local and international engagement. He noted that working with global partners can help bring attention to the issues facing the country and encourage constructive dialogue.
He also reassured supporters that the opposition movement remains active even during his absence. According to him, the leadership of the National Unity Platform will continue coordinating activities and mobilizing supporters across the country.
Bobi Wine urged his followers to remain united and peaceful while pursuing their political goals. He emphasized that the push for democratic reforms should always be guided by discipline, patience, and respect for the rule of law.
The opposition leader also highlighted the role of young people in shaping Uganda’s political future. He encouraged the youth to remain engaged in civic discussions and to continue advocating for their rights through lawful and peaceful means.
Political analysts say Bobi Wine’s international engagements could draw further attention to Uganda’s political environment. International advocacy has often played a role in shaping conversations about governance and human rights in different countries.
At the same time, the Ugandan government has repeatedly maintained that the country operates under a democratic system where citizens freely choose their leaders through elections. Officials often point to constitutional processes and electoral institutions as evidence of the country’s democratic framework.
Bobi Wine, however, continues to argue that reforms are necessary to strengthen democratic institutions and ensure that elections fully reflect the will of the people. His political movement has consistently called for transparency and accountability within the electoral system.

Despite the political disagreements, Bobi Wine said his goal remains focused on what he describes as a better future for Uganda. He emphasized that the opposition movement seeks peaceful transformation through civic engagement and democratic participation.
The opposition leader also expressed appreciation to his supporters both within Uganda and in the diaspora. He said their continued support gives strength to the movement and motivates its efforts.
According to him, the upcoming weeks will be important for strengthening relationships with partners who share similar values on democracy and governance. He believes these engagements will help shape future strategies for the movement.
Bobi Wine also stressed that his return to Uganda will mark the continuation of his political work and engagement with citizens. He said he looks forward to reconnecting with supporters across the country.
Many of his supporters have welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that international engagement will bring more attention to the political issues being raised by the opposition.
As Uganda continues to experience active political debate, observers say the coming months will be significant in determining how the country’s political conversation evolves.
For Bobi Wine and his supporters, the message remains clear: the political struggle, as they describe it, will continue both at home and on the international stage until they believe meaningful democratic progress has been achieved.
